BJP crossed the majority mark in West Bengal and Assam, while Congress-led UDF was poised to return to power in Kerala after a decade. Meanwhile, Vijay’s TVK was inching closer to the magic figure of 118 seats in Tamil Nadu as counting of votes for Assembly Elections 2026 in four states and the Union Territory of Puducherry was underway on Monday.
According to the official Election Commission of India trends at 2:30 pm, BJP was leading in 192 seats in Bengal. The ruling TMC was a distant second with leads in just 95 seats. Humayun Kabir’s AJUP was leading in two constituencies, with Congress and the Left ahead in one seat each.

In Assam, the BJP appeared poised for a third consecutive victory as the saffron party was leading in 99 seats, including 25 declared victories.
The Opposition Congress once again failed to put up a strong fight as the party and allies were ahead in just 23 seats.
The biggest surprise came in Tamil Nadu where Vijay’s party made a blockbuster debut with leads in 110 seats. The DMK and the AIADMK alliances were ahead in 62 seats each.
Kerala emerged as the only bright spot for the Opposition where Congress-led UDF was all set to oust the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government as the alliance was ahead in 98 seats, including 28 declared victories.
The LDF was leading in 36 seats, including 11 victories, with Others ahead in 3 seats. The BJP also managed to make inroads in the south Indian state as its candidates were leading in two seats.
In Puducherry, the BJP-led NDA alliance was on course for a consecutive victory with 16 seats (4 leads and 12 victories). The Congress-DMK alliance won two and was ahead in 8 more seats.
